ghd educator, Cornel Moolman, recently met up with the darling of 7de Laan, Clara.  Angelique Gerber, who plays the character is an avid ghd fan and asked that we teach her a few tricks to help her style her hair like a pro every day.

So what products will you find on Angelique’s dressing table?

What was ghd’s key styling tip for Angelique?

To create the perfect ghd curl select a small section approximately 1cm deep, place the styler horizontally into the hair, rotate 180 degrees and pull through the length of the hair.  Cornel says “All she needs to remember when creating the perfect curl is “ghd logo to ghd logo, it’s that easy.”

We were all in wonder of Kate’s fabulous hair at the engagement, now we’ve prepared the steps to help you achieve this look yourself.

• First towel dry hair and prepare it for styling using ghd maximise mousse
• Apply ghd thermal protector specific to your hair type to protect your hair from heat damage
• Blow dry in sections, lifting from the root using a ghd anti-static brush to give your hair a good foundation and body
• Using your ghd IV styler, gently hold your styler close to the root and turn 180 degrees before pulling your it through your hair.   Remember to hold the hair in your other hand the whole time.  NOTE: The quicker you pull the styler, the looser the curl will be and the slower you pull your styler through, the tighter your curl will be.
• Wrap the curl around your finger and pin each curl to your head as you go, until the entire head is set with curls
• Once the hair has cooled down, take the pins out and run your hands through the hair to loosen the look
• Separate the curls by shaking your hair through your fingers, and shaping the curls individually
• Simply apply ghd ultimate hairspray to finish the look

“When it comes to accessories, less really is more” says ghd educator Debi Schurr, “keep it simple and let the accessory accentuate your look.” For example, create a side swept pony tail and add a clip-in flower in pastel shades or a bold red flower for sunset cocktails.

Floral headbands and Alice-bands with feathers, beads or flowers are favourites for summer and look great with soft waves or sleek straight hair that can be created with your ghd IV styler.  Gossip Girl’s Leighton Meester (right) shows us how it’s done.  For a more elegant evening look, beaded clips are a must-have accessory.

Prepping your hair with a styling aid will help create the desired look – for fine hair use ghd texture lotion to give the hair shine, texture and hold.  Working in neat sections, apply a small amount of ghd texture lotion to damp hair and power dry the hair. Once your hair is completely dry use your ghd IV styler to create bouncy curls.
