1 day, 5 cities, 5 shopping malls, 1 goal.

Not brave enough to shave off your locks at the Cancer Association of South Africa’s (CANSA) Shavathons earlier this year? ghd has a solution for you.

The ghd styling teams will be hosting a ghd style-A-thon at several shopping centres across South Africa on Saturday, 1 October 2011. Show your support for those who are battling cancer by having your hair styled and acknowledge the hard work being done by CANSA to educate the public and provide support to all people who are affected by cancer.

One in 29 women is diagnosed with breast cancer every year. October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and is dedicated to encouraging all women to invest in their health by learning how to detect breast cancer at an early stage. Since 2005, ghd has donated over R1.1 million to CANSA through sales of its annual limited edition Pink styler.

The ghd style-A-thons will take place at shopping centres in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban and Cape Town on Saturday, 1 October 2011 during mall hours. A donation of R50 for adults (R20 for children under 12 years) will enable you to have your hair professionally styled.
Visit the following shopping centres to take part in the ghd style-A-thon:
• Johannesburg: Cresta Shopping Centre and Clearwater Mall
• Pretoria: Menlyn Park Shopping Centre
• Cape Town: Canal Walk Shopping Centre
• Durban: Gateway – Theatre of Shopping

In a bid to raise further funds for CANSA on the day, the 2011 limited edition ghd Pink Orchid styler (R2 380) will also be available to purchase at the ghd style-A-thon. Remember that R100 from each styler sold will be donated to CANSA. Customers will also receive a free ghd Style Curl Hold Spray valued at R195 when they purchase this limited edition styler.

Get the Gavin Rajah look…

This month ghd and the fab stylists from Regis worked their magic at Cape Town Fashion Week. Do you want to look like you just stepped off the catwalk from a Gavin Rajah show? Here’s how…

Once dry, section your hair into 1cm sections and apply ghd Style Curl Hold Spray (R195) to each section as you are working. Using your ghd Gold Classic styler, gently hold your styler on the hair, pull down until you reach your ears and turn 180 degrees before pulling your styler through the hair. Remember to hold the hair in your other hand the whole time, working slowly to create tight curls. Ensure that the top section of your hair stays smooth and flat by clipping the hair in place above your ears. Once you have finished your curls, rouge these using your fingers by pushing the hair up towards your head. Spray liberally with ghd Style Final Fix Hairspray (R150 for 400ml) to hold the look in place.
